Lev Bell on the Chiefs, Melvin Gordon on the liquor

The Morning Huddle - Oct 17

Hey! It’s Jacob Robinson.

Welcome to the first-ever issue of The Morning Huddle, a daily fantasy football newsletter delivered to your inbox every morning. If I haven’t reached out to get your permission, it’s because I wanted to test this email format and I value your feedback (you can unsubscribe anytime).

This newsletter is sent to inboxes around the world at 6:00 AM every damn morning, jam-packed with the 10 most important fantasy football updates from the previous day. A quick, 2-minute read. We source the info from Twitter, Instagram, player interviews, and (almost) every other place imaginable. Without further ado, here is the first-ever edition of The Morning Huddle.

Falcons Vikings matchup looking like a GO!

After an assistant coach tested positive, fantasy owners worried this potential shootout would be rescheduled or cancelled. However, things are looking up, as the Falcons had no new positive tests from Thursday’s round of Covid-19 testing.

Colts are hopeful their game against the Bengals is a GO.

Colts owner Jim Irsay said the team plans to play Sunday’s game with the Bengals, despite one player and three staff members being diagnosed with false positives. After the positives, the Colts shut down their facilities. But Jim probably saw what the Titans did to the 4-0 Bills without practice.

Odell Beckham Jr. is negative for Covid-19.

After being sent home Thursday with an illness resembling the symptoms of Covid-19, OBJ’s tests came up negative, which is a good thing.

2020 Presidential Election-- (Trump v Biden)

After an abysmal first 5 weeks for the Bengals legend which ended with Week 5’s hamstring injury, Green will be looking to bounce back against the Colts this week. Despite 33 targets from future HOFer Joe Burrow, Green only has 14 catches for 119 yards. Total. He’s a low-end WR4 until further notice.

Dwayne Haskins returns to practice Friday.

Likely on the trade block after being benched for Kyle Allen, Haskins returns from a mysterious (non-Covid-19) illness after Kyle Allen’s injury scare Sunday. The 15th overall pick in the 2019 draft, Haskins days in Washington are likely over soon, as he is rumoured to be on the trading block.

Gibson is a terrific buy-low in both Dynasty and Re-Draft leagues. Check the link attached to see why. He’s facing a Giants defense allowing 20 fantasy points per game to running backs this season.

LeVeon Bell is a Chief. Now what?

Bell’s contract is worth $690,000 with an additional $1 million in incentives. Matthew Berry and Field Yates discuss what this move means for both Bell and Clyde Edwards-Helaire. Scott Barrett isn’t thrilled. The Gase Score (by legend Drake Jordan) should bring hope for LeVeon owners. Josh Hermsmeyer explains why the Chiefs made the move (and why RBs don’t matter). Some Lev Bell YPC humour.

A list of CBs you might want to consider sitting your WR against…

These top corners collectively put together impressive games all season. Calvin Ridley held to zero, Allen Robinson’s worst game of the season, and Amari Cooper’s 23-yard dud.

Melvin Gordon’s drunk and/or sick?

While Gordon doesn’t have Covid-19, he does have a speeding ticket, a DUI, and an illness. If he clears all those hurdles, there’s still a chance he plays against New England in Week 6. The NFL could also suspend him at any time.
