🏈 A young Tyreek Hill? & old Julio Jones

Top 150, 100 Facts, League Winners, Julio Jones and meet Wan'Dale Robinson

Good morning. Welcome back to another boring Sund… OH SH*T. IT'S FANTASY DRAFT SZN BABY. Here's Tom Brady yelling, "Let's go" into a crowd as he is overcome with emotion at the return of the Morning Huddle

null

We're following this schedule until the NFL season kicks off on Thursday, September 8:

  • Daily newsletter almost every morning @ 6:00 AM EST covering all things NFL off-season (injuries, trades, Adam Gase sightings).

  • The offseason Huddle will feature the three best articles we've read, a great podcast to listen to, "rookie of the day," hype, and injury updates.

The Biggest Story

Kareem Hunt: "Trade me or pay me"

Per @JosinaAnderson, Kareem Hunt has informed the team that he wants to be "paid or traded." D'Ernest Johnson is basically free in fantasy drafts and worth grabbing where you can. This would also be great news for Nick Chubb fans.

The Hype

Vets: The Return of Julio.

Stop sleeping on Julio Jones. "Prior to last season, Julio Jones had averaged at least 85.0 YPG for 8 straight seasons. He’s the first WR in NFL history with 8 career seasons of 85.0-plus receiving YPG, let alone 8 such seasons in a row." - @ScottBarrettDFB.

  • "I think Julio Jones will be able to practice more this year & whoever signs him will get more of the old Julio." - @RapSheet

  • "Julio Jones is the same age Terrell Owens was when he dropped 1180 yds & 13 TDs with a stud QB on a new team." - @JetPackGalileo

Panthers seem intent on continuing Christian McCaffrey’s enormous workload: “We’re going to put him out there and play him,” Matt Rhule said. “I think we’re all thinking about Christian one way only, and that’s attack.”

  • Texans sophomore QB Davis Mills continued practicing well. During red zone 7 on 7 he fired some absolute LASERS in between couple of defenders for TDs. Brandin Cooks has been the best player in Texans camp and will continue to beat his ADP.

Rookie of the Day: Meet Wan’Dale Robinson

Giants.com

This Giants WR is taking camp by storm. His ADP has climbed almost 30 spots since camp started. Robinson had 104 receptions, 1334 yards receiving and 7 TD catches in the SEC last year. He had over 600 yards rushing in his college career. 4.4 40, early declare and a day two pick. "But he is only 5-8 so you can steal him in dynasty and redraft" (@TheOGfantasy).

Articles:

1. Do you merely want to win your league? No, you want to crush your opponents. @ScottBarrettDFB's annual-must read, "Anatomy of a League Winner: 2022 Edition" just dropped and will help you do just that. It is worth the Fantasy Points subscription alone. If you want to understand Scott's philosophy, his Upside Wins Championships article is one of the most valuable fantasy pieces I've ever read - and it's now free.

2. Matthew Berry's 100 Facts to Know for the 2022 Fantasy Football Season. This legendary article never disappoints. Facts 76-78 completely changed my thinking on Amon-Ra St. Brown:

3. The Impact of ACL Surgery on Fantasy Performance: Running Backs. ACL injuries are one of the most common injuries in the NFL, specifically for skill position players. In this article, @TheFantasyPT dives deep into the impact of these injuries, particularly helpful for those considering drafting JK Dobbins.

Podcast: PFF & Top-150 fantasy football rankings with Evan Silva

In this wide-ranging episode, PFF's Ian Hartitz and Dwain McFarland are joined by Establish the Run legend Evan Silva to break down some key fantasy football rankings questions, specifically focusing on Evan's latest top-150 ranks.

Highly recommend the entire podcast. A few highlights include:

  • [9:00] The importance of a dual-threat QB, such as Trey Lance. "I feel a lot more confident in Lance. And I think you can make an argument for him to be included in the Jalen Hurts range."

  • [19:00] Why Evan's fading Saquon Barkley at this current ADP

  • [39:00] The bull case for Bills Rookie RB James Cook, whose "floor might just be JD McKissic, who finished RB21 last season."

  • [43:00] What to do with AJ Brown

Overtime

Quick Slants

  • George Pickens has been listed as a first string WR on the Steelers first official depth chart, while first-rounder Kenny Pickett is listed as the third string QB (behind studs like Mason Rudolph and Mitch Trubisky).

  • "The Ravens had a very brief scare at practice yesterday when Mark Andrews appeared to get his foot/ankle stuck in the ground as he went down to catch a pass. Andrews bounced back up, but Harbaugh had seen enough. That was last rep that Andrews took." Anyone remember the Ravens disaster off-season last year?

  • The Athletic's Joe Buscaglia reports Gabriel Davis was the "best pass catcher on the field" in the Bills' Friday night scrimmage at Highmark Stadium. On a team with Stefon Diggs, that's high praise.
