šŸˆ Time for Pollard's Backup?

The Packers Best WR and Waiver Wire Pickups for your Fantasy Football team in Week 11 of the 2023 NFL Season

Good morning. Week 10 was by far the most entertaining of the season, right? So many game-winning FGs and some huge offensive performances. But anyone else lose every survivor pool?

And two Morning Huddle writers (Eddie, Cowboys fan and Marcus, Browns fan) are living LARGE right now. At least I (Jake, Bengals fan) have one thing they donā€™t: a franchise QBĀ šŸ‘€Ā

RANKINGS

Trevor Lawrence falls to QB14. Despite being a generational prospect, Lawrence has finished as a top-10 fantasy QB only twice this season. He has fewer passing yards and TDs than Baker Mayfield this season and is tough to trust in your lineup.

Jahmyr Gibbs rises to RB5. Weā€™ve loved Gibbs since his college days at Bama, and it looks like Detroit is finally letting him eat. The rookie has 25+ FP in 3-straight games while on a 75-reception 17-game pace (per @GuruFantasyWrld). Heā€™s elite.

Our rest-of-season 0.5 PPR rankings were updated early this morningĀ šŸ‘‡ļøĀ

WAIVER WIRE

Running Back

Cowboys RB2 (Left, Pollard) with the RB1 (Rico Dowdle) // Vincent Carchietta, USA Today Sports

One player we listed in last weekā€™s top options, Rico Dowdle needs to be added everywhere. As Sam Sherman noted, the Cowboys' backup RB, Dowdle, is more efficient than the starter, Tony Pollard, on far fewer touches. Sound familiar?

As Saad Yousef of The Athletic wrote, ā€œPollard is not a prototypical feature back and the Cowboys donā€™t need to force him in that role.ā€ Dowdle look better between the tackles (see chart below) and was more efficient than Pollard; 12 of Pollardā€™s 15 carries amounted to just 16 yards, while Dowdle took 12 carries for 79 yards and a TD. ā€œDowdle is a physical back who is better suited running between the tackles, lowering his shoulders and falling forward than Pollardā€, per Yousefā€™s article.

NFL Next Gen Stats

ā€œI love Ricoā€™s run style,ā€ said HC Mike McCarthy. More work should be on the horizon for Dowdle, whose 71.3 PFF rating on Sunday beat Bijan Robinson (67.1) and Saquon Barkley (70.2). And this may be a good thing for Tony Pollard (66.9), who could revert to his more explosive, change of pace role. Check every league.

Here are Week 11ā€™s other RB waiver claims:

  • Ty Chandler is a close second. Chandler was also listed last week and put together a solid performance (15-45-1 and had a 30ish yard TD called back). Most importantly (and sadly), Alexander Mattison suffered a concussion and is expected to miss the Broncos matchup in Week 11. Chandler looked explosive, got a game ball and had as many carries Mattison before he left the game. Check every league.

  • Ezekiel Elliott is worth stashing. When Rhamondre Stevenson briefly left with a back injury, Zeke dominated touches. The run game is the only positive in New England.

  • Antonio Gibson has 5 receptions in three consecutive weeks. He doesnā€™t have major upside but is a possible PPR fill-in.

  • We recommended starting Devin Singletary. He remains a must add. Of course, this all assumes Tyjae Spears, Keaton Mitchell and Zach Charbonnet are not available.

Wide Receiver

Noah Brown // Troy Taormina, USA Today Sports

We were wrong about Noah Brown. Brown caught seven of eight targets for 172 yards. It was his second consecutive game with over 150 yards. Brownā€™s 382 yards in the past three weeks ranks second among all WRs. The contract-year WR should continue to impress with the second-coming of Peyton Manning (CJ Stroud) at QB.

Jayden Reed is the Packers best WR. Reed caught all five of his targets for 84 yards and a touchdown and has now gone over 80 yards in two of his last three games. Reedā€™s passer rating when targeted (104.4) leads all Packers WRs. After the game, Packers WRs were huddling at Jayden Reed's locker - heā€™s clearly a vocal leader and has impressed Packers expert @Peter_Bukowski. Reed was top 16 in red zone targets before his TD on Sunday, per @Scott_Spratt.

Not sure what to do with Brandin Cooks? Same. The Cowboys throttled the Giants, and Cooks caught one of two targets for seven yards in Week 9. Still, this pass-heavy Cowboys offense should continue to produce explosive plays. Add in deeper leagues.

  • Rashod Bateman played the WR2 role for the Ravens (40 snaps to Zay Flowers 47). Heā€™s getting open and Lamar Jackson said they need to get Bateman more opportunities.

  • Rondale Moore saw 8 targets upon Kyler Murray's return. Caught 5 for 43 yards. May have a connection edge on Michael Wilson w/ Kyler, per @P2WFantasy.

QB & Tight End

Kyler and his TE1 // Caitlyn Epes, Arizona Cardinals

Trey McBride caught eight of nine targets for 131 yards against the Falcons. He now has 28 targets over his last three games, per Jason Katz of Pro Football Network. Obviously taken, but double check.

Luke Musgrave had three catches for 51 yds and a TD in Week 9 and two catches for 64 yds and a TD Week 10. In a consistent role in the GB offense with a QB who trusts him, Musgrave offers a solid streaming floor.

Tyler Conklin now has six weeks of 5+ targets. After a 6-66 Week 9 and 7-70 Week 10, he has to be added. Is TE suddenly deep?

  • Joshua Dobbs now has two top 5 finishes in his two games with the Justin Jefferson-less Vikings. JJ should be back soon.

  • Baker Mayfield has quietly finished as a top-11 QB in 4/4 games since Week 6. He faces a tough 49ers defense in Week 11, so temper expectations, but itā€™s tough to trust many QBs right now.

D/ST

Commanders (vs. Giants) and Giants (vs. Commanders) could be a sack/turnover fest with both teams struggling. Surprised itā€™s not a primetime gameā€¦

Dolphins (vs. Raiders) offer the first true test for interim HC Antonio Pierce. Dolphins are 10-point favorites against rookie QB Aidan Oā€™Connell.

Jaguars (vs. Titans) are 6.5 point favorites against a terrible Titans offensive line and a rookie QB. Expect a big play or two, plus sacks.

Lions (vs. Bears) are 9-point favorites against a turnover-prone Bears team that hasnā€™t been that bad over the past few weeks. Maybe itā€™s not as obvious as it seems? The Lions defense struggled in Los Angeles and relied on their offense in Week 10.

DEEP DIVES

Perry Interesting

You got MOSSā€™d // Abbie Parr, AP Photo

The idea is you pick up players the week before everyone adds them off the waiver wire. Last week, the perfect pickup was Ty Chandler.

NO WR A.T. Perry (0.1%)Ā caught 2 of 4 targets for 38 yards and an impressive TD in Michael Thomasā€™ absence. With Thomasā€™ knee injury being considered ā€œsignificant,ā€ the 6ā€™5ā€ Perry could be an intriguing red zone target ā€” especially if Jameis is QB.

LAC WR Jalen Guyton (0.2%) has played 57 and 79% of snaps the last two weeks since returning from a torn ACL. With Mike Williams and Josh Palmer on IR, and Keenan Allen banged up, Guyton capitalized with 4 catches on 6 targets for 41 yards and 1 TD. With 4.35 speed, Guyton could be a big play threat in an explosive offense.

TB RB Chase Edmonds (0.8%) has surpassed Keā€™Shawn Vaughn and rookie Sean Tucker as the clear RB2 in Tampa. Starter Rachaad White has been a fantasy RB1 despite mediocre efficiency, and Edmonds could slide into that role if something were to happen to White.

CIN TE Tanner Hudson (0.1%) has emerged as Joe Burrowā€™s favorite TE, collecting 10 receptions on 12 targets the last two weeks (compared to just 4 receptions on 5 targets for Irv Smith). If youā€™re in a deep TE-premium league, Hudson could be worth a look.

šŸ“– Read Steelersā€™ Dormant Run Game Has Come Alive (again), Propelling Win vs. Packers ($) by Mike Defabo of The Athletic. Read the recent changes leading the Steelers run game resurgance.

šŸ“– Read JJ Zachariasonā€™s twitter thread. Two examples:

  • Trevor Lawrence has yet to throw more than two touchdowns in a game, and he has just two games with multiple passing touchdowns.

  • George Pickens has failed to get to a 20% target share in each of his last three games. He's also failed to score 10+ PPR points in each of those contests.

šŸ“– Read Footballguys Injury Report: How Injuries Affect Players from Adam Hutchison of the Football Guys. Following an MCL sprain, RBs typically see a 10-13% decrease in fantasy points the first three weeks back - relevant for what to expect from Deā€™Von Achane. ā€œOnly 22 points per gameā€ā€¦

Tweet of the Day

Boy Iā€™m really starting to dislike the Drake! (Any Seinfeld fans?).

Good luck on your waivers.

And remember: if one of these guys can grow up to date Taylor Swift and the other can become a finalist for Sexiest Man Alive, you can do anything as long as youā€™re a world-class athlete. Get to the gym.
